- Sankara Eye Foundation, USA (SEF) is a 501 (c) (3) registered non-profit that raises funds to provide free eye surgeries to the visually handicapped poor in India. SEF's Goal is to eradicate curable blindness by the year 2020 - Vision 20/20 by 2020.SEF initiates and drives community eye care activities in India by working with eye care organisations such as Sankara Eye Care Institutions, which runs the Sankara Eye Hospitals in India.The majority of the fundraising effort is achieved through fundraising events, booths in major events, advertising and working with major donors.Through these fundraising efforts, SEF, USA has played a significant role in increasing the number of free surgeries several fold to its current projected annual rate of about 150,000 at nine Sankara Eye Hospitals in India.Our tenth Hospital is coming up in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and will be inaugurated in 2014 and land is being acquired in Jodhpur, Rajasthan for our eleventh Hospital.
