• Mass Farmers Markets (MFM) is a state wide organization connecting Massachusetts residents with healthy local food. Our mission is to partner with farmers, consumers, and communities to foster, enhance, and sustain farmers markets in Massachusetts in order to improve regional farm viability, health outcomes, and social and economic development in communities which host farmers markets. Our most recent accomplishments include:Connecting undeserved populations to local healthy food through administering senior and woman/infants/and children coupon programs as well as accepting SNAP at all our managed farmers markets and the Veggie Rx program where youth at risk for diabetes and their families can get prescriptions for fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers markets.Partnering with CISA, the DTA, and 14 farmers markets in Hampden County to participate in the only research project of its kind called the Healthy Initiatives Pilot (HIP) introduced by FNS to study the impact of a 30% incentive for nutritious fruits and vegetables has on the food choices of SNAP recipients.Co-founding the Farmers Market Coalition, a national organization dedicated to sharing information and resources with farmers markets across the nation.
