With a unique blend of speeds in excess of 175 mph, and banking of nine degrees on its narrow straightaways and 24 degrees in its sweeping turns, Dover has earned the nickname the Monster Mile for its tough nature on both man and machine.Built in 2008, The Monster Monument at Victory Plaza, stands 46-feet tall and holds a full-scale stock car in the monsters right hand. The base of the monument pays tribute to race winners at Dover International Speedway and features dedications to legendary drivers who are recognized for their special accomplishments earned on the high banks of the Monster Mile.
