- The Learning Disabilities Association of Central New York works to empower individuals with learning disabilities and ADHD to achieve success; whatever that success looks like for each person. We provide educational resources and services to approximately 300 children and adults each year.Our childrens programs and services include:Summer Adventures in Learning (SAIL): Ages 6-13. This program lasts six weeks over the summer with the goal of helping children retain what they learned during the school year.Learning Without Borders (LWB): Ages 14-16. This program is very similar to SAIL, however, focuses even more on developing and increasing social skills.We also offer an educational consulting service to help families navigate the school system.Our adult services include:LIFE: Counselors help adults recognize the importance of utilizing his/her strengths to compensate for challenges to develop their independent living skills. The LIFE Program provides community habilitation services in the individuals home and surrounding community.Adult Social Rec: 18 and older. This is a weekly program that gives individuals the opportunity to choose the activities they want to participate in, and to develop friendships through recreational activities.We also have employment consultants who work one-on-one with job seekers to provide individualized services and support with job searches, exploration and career development.Lastly, we provide ADHD coaching to help provide structure, support, skills and strategies to help children and adults succeed in school and work.To learn more about any of our programs or services, please visit our website at www.ldacny.org and select Services & Programs.
