- Formerly known as Hospice of Central Iowa, HCI Care Services is a not-for-profit, independent healthcare organization which offers hospice care, palliative care and supportive private duty services to individuals and their families. Founded in 1978, HCI Care Services is community-based, with teams in seven locally-staffed offices serving 35 counties. Residential hospice care is available at our Des Moines-based Kavanagh Houses.HCI Care Services is a proud community partner of Visiting Nurses Services of Iowa (VNS of Iowa), an organization which promotes health, education, and well-being for a lifetime through medical and social services benefiting women, children and families, adults and seniors, and communities.
