- The Multi-Ethnic Collaborative of Community Agencies (MECCA) is a coalition of community-based service providers and agencies with a vision of improving the quality of life for underserved multicultural communities by being a unified voice advocating to reduce ethnic disproportionalities. The mission of MECCA is to ensure the delivery of culturally and linguistically responsive services to traditionally underserved multicultural communities. MECCA is committed to creating a sustainable system of integrated health care delivery and human development amongst its members through education, outreach and advocacy in order to increase access and resources to diverse multicultural communities.In October of 2009, the founding members of MECCA came together to address the gap in services accessed by multi-ethnic communities. The founding members, many of whom were already leading established local service agencies, saw the power of a collaborative and brought in community agencies to cover the demographics of the under-served communities across Orange County. MECCA was formerly established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2010.Currently MECCA targets 6 threshold ethno-linguistic communities within Orange County: Arab, Chinese, Farsi-speaking, Korean, Latino and Vietnamese. However this is simply the birth of a multi-ethnic network with the potential for unlimited impact; We believe that MECCA has the potential to lead community advocacy efforts in empowering all marginalized communities and in promoting both individual and community growth for all ethnic communities.To find out more about MECCA, please visit: www.ocmecca.org
