• ABOUT KAALI DESIGNS, PRESIDENT AND DESIGNER, ANIT DODHIA Kaali Designs, President and Designer, Anit Dodhia lives in San Diego with his wife Rebecca and two year old daughter Mia. He is a GIA Graduate Gemologist with over 18 years of experience working in the gemstone and jewelry business. Originally from mineral rich East Africa, Anit grew up in the colored gemstone and jewelry trade. At a young age, Anit began spending time with his father at the familys jewelry shop and quickly learned that he had an eye and a passion for colored stones, and tanzanite in particular. Through his new venture, Kaali Designs, Anit is extremely proud to share his collection, which at its core is a fusion of family tradition and personal passion. INSPIRATION BEHIND THE KAALI DESIGNS COLLECTION Anit grew up in a tight knit Hindu Indian community in Mombasa, a coastal town in Kenya. Kaali Designs is named in honor of the Hindu Goddess Kali, who is a manifestation of the Devine Mother, while at the same time, a fierce and powerful warrior. In Kaali Designs inaugural collection, Anits inspiration comes from the Indian Ocean, its movement and reflection of natural light, as well as the bold colors found in Indian and East African traditional dress. His daughter has also inspired many of the designs as he envisions the powerful and confident woman, much like Kali, he wants her to grow to be. The collection includes a range of handmade necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, bangles, cuffs and pendants and features sterling silver, with rhodium and oxidized plating and quality tanzanite, spinel, tsavorite and other color gems sourced in East Africa.
