• Project Access Northwest partners with almost 1600 volunteer providers in order to provide specialty medical and dental care to our un and underinsured neighbors. Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, many people now have insurance, but it isn't that simple. Those who have plans often can't meet their deductibles. Or, specialty providers don't accept these new Medicaid plans due to low reimbursement rates. And, we still have thousands of people who don't qualify for these plans. So while progress has been made, we still have a specialty care access problem. Project Access Northwest solves this problem by linking these patients needing care with a specialist who provides services at no cost. We make the appointment, arrange for all ancillary testing, provide interpreters if necessary and close that gap that exists. Since our inception in 2006 we have served more than 30,000 people. Our other programs are also addressing gaps in the healthcare system. Our Premium Assistance Program helps qualifying people pay their state-mandated insurance premiums when they cannot afford to make the payments. This is a partnership with many local hospital systems and has had life-changing impacts since it began in 2012. Lastly, our Primary Link program connects non-emergent users of Emergency Departments with health care homes and family doctors who can more appropriately manage their healthcare needs. This results in patients having access to appropriate medical care as well as increased healthcare literacy around how the system works. It also reduces the burden on already over-crowded emergency rooms.
