• Founded in 1977, NACD is the only non-profit membership organization dedicated exclusively to serving the corporate governance needs of directors and boards. The Southern California Chapter was founded in 1978.Our mission is to achieve improved corporate governance through better board practice by providing guidance to corporate directors, boards, and senior executives. NACD enhances director and board effectiveness through education, information, independent research, and by convening directors and governance influencers to develop and codify leading boardroom practices. NACDs 10,000 corporate director members represent companies ranging from Fortune 100 public companies to small cap, private and nonprofit organizations. NACD is the publisher of Directorship Magazine, Directors Daily, and NACD Corporate Governance Surveys. The NACD Corporate Directors Institute offers the Certificate of Director Education and a continuing education menu for directors. The NACD Directors Registry matches qualified director candidates with the specific criteria of boards. With 22 chapters nationwide, NACD provides education and networking forums on both a national and local level.
