• Fast Pace Solutions Ltd (FPS) is a private Cardiac Diagnostic service in Taranaki that has been set up by Taranaki Base Hospital's local Clinical Cardiac Physiologist, Michael Maxim. FPS was established to first and foremost cater to symptomatic patients requiring ambulatory monitoring, providing prompt and efficient Cardiologist approved analysis as well as providing products required to set up a quality Holter service to GP Practices in Taranaki. FPS is a new, innovative regional service available to GP's that will reduce waiting lists at the TDBH by giving the local community the option of a prompt and efficient service outside of the public system. GP's can choose to offer this service directly, or refer their patient to another practice. Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in NZ and it is estimated that 1 in 20 Kiwi adults suffer with heart disease. Our aim is to empower patients who have worrying heart symptoms with improved options for fast and accurate diagnosis and reduce the anxiety that is faced by many on long waiting lists. Holter monitoring devices offer a comprehensive picture of cardiac activity over a required length of time, this tool allows the Cardiologist to make a clear diagnosis in order to offer treatment. The faster this analysis is done, the faster the patient can be treated. This can also have an impact on how quickly a patient can return to leading their usual lifestyle symptom free. Holter monitoring became the first ambulatory ECG test available and is still considered the gold standard in ambulatory ECG. By offering this private service in Taranaki we are enhancing the health care offerings in our region, not only giving the community what they deserve but highlighting the fact that we are a region 'like no other'.
