• The Institute For Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR) was founded in 1958 as a membership society for analysts sharing an interest in Freuds theory and technique, IPTAR continues to be a community committed to the lifelong study of psychoanalysis. IPTAR is devoted to the study of psychoanalysis and the training of psychoanalysts and child psychoanalytic psychotherapists. It provides service to the community through its clinical outreach programs. The IPTAR Society provides a professional community with worldwide ties to national and international psychoanalytic associations. IPTAR's mission is to train candidates to become adult psychoanalysts or child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapists, and to make training possible for candidates without a clinical mental health background, through respecialization training. In addition, IPTAR addresses community needs through its low fee clinic, which services individuals, schools, and asylum seekers. IIPTAR also provides a psychoanalytic and scholarly community for analysts and candidates. It seeks to further the cause of psychoanalysis through psychoanalytic research and community outreach.
