• Seven Stitches integrates embroidery work, hand woven fabrics, fibers and findings, into unique designs that tell a story of women and their journeys around the globe.My commitment is strong to my fair trade business partners and strive to deliver designs that are original, much like the women who inspire me continents away with their traditions and color palette. All items are handmade in my San Diego Studio where, from time to time I recruit the assistance of refugee women that have been resettled here from places like Somalia, Darfur and Iraq.My designs are driven by my passion and belief that the universal language of color, shapes, and textures evoke feelings in each of us All I attempt to do is weave them together to reflect the idea of beauty in unity.Inspiration...My roots are in the Mediterranean, with the blue skies, yellow sands, and turquoise waters,a medley of modern and the ancient cultures. This fertilized rawness has inspired me to lookfor unique combinations of colors and materials from around the world - as well as the people who make them. I find beauty in balancing the color pallet and provoking the senses to feel something you cant quite explain. I hope my pieces make each person feel they had traveled to these far away places, and now they carry not only the beauty and flavor of a remote culture but are a part of the human chain, that started with a stitch continents away.
