- NESS is a year round nonprofit 501(c)(3) ocean adventure and science program that engages students in experiential learning that builds confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Marine science, adventure sports, and sailing are catalysts for these skills as well as teaching respect and responsibility for the sea. NESS programs teach more than marine education; they provide a stimulating environment to discover life skills. NESS achieves this through its four core values of:Experiential Hands- On Learning: Actively engaging students in the subject matter through doing, seeing, and feeling first handPersonal Growth: Empowering students to do things they have never experienced before and to discover their personal bestInclusiveness: Getting as many people out on the water as possible, learning and making new friends, regardless of financial meansStewardship: With discovery comes respect for our communities and natural environment. NESS students know that stewardship of the worlds oceans begins here, where they can hold the future in their hands.
