• The Long-term Education Investment Fund (LEIF) invests in students. There are several organizations with similar missions as LEIF. How do we differ? Educational infrastructure is experiencing a paradigm shift. With the increasing un-affordability of 4-year Bachelor degrees and the simultaneously increasing prevalence of high quality online education, there is a wonderful opportunity to provide in-demand skills at relatively low cost. Using charitable donations and by partnering with respected providers of online tech and computer science education, we pay for students to attend these educational programs that funnel directly into the tech industry. While charitable donations are vital, the true engine of sustainability of our model is the utilization of Income Share Agreements (ISAs). For the benefit of having education paid for, once students are employed and earn above a defined minimum salary we ask them to support future participants in our program by committing a small percentage of their income for a defined period. This is the pay-it-forward approach to educational financing. By utilizing ISAs the size of the Long-Term Education Investment Fund increases in perpetuity and co-investors earn a competitive risk-adjusted return.
