- CareBOX Program is an Austin-based nonprofit addressing a gap in services for cancer patients and their families in Central Texas. We provide essential care supplies to support cancer patients in their homes. Most families leave the hospital overwhelmed and underprepared to care for a sick child or adult with cancer. CareBOX Program helps patients and their families identify needed items, collects donations, and delivers the supplies directly to patients homes. This innovative approach combines the power of crowdfunding and the simplicity of a gift registry to help us meet this need at CareBOXProgram.org.CareBOX aims to serve 500 Central Texans with cancer in 2016 with a long-term vision of being in cities nationwide. CareBOXes are customized to the receiving cancer patients needs and include: mobility items to help avoid injuries and falls, nutritional supplements to defend against malnutrition, and infection prevention supplies to prevent complex infections. Additionally, items that provide comfort and dignity to the patient are also included.
