• Aquacraft's main focus is in understanding urban water demands and finding better ways to forecast demands and manage them as well. In the 90's we were looking for ways to improve end use demand forecasts and came up with the concept of using high resolution data loggers to obtain what we refer to as flow trace files, which are simply time series of flows at ten second intervals. This was followed by development of the Trace Wizard(c) software which allow us to analyze trace files more easily.Since our first major project using this technique, the Residential End Uses of Water Study (1999) Aquacraft has collected data on literally millions of water events at thousands of homes and businesses in the U.S. and around the world. This is the largest database of water events we know of. Most of the data are linked to surveys and demographic information.Using our data we have created models of water demands and highly detailed analyses for our clients that have shown them where there water use is now, how it has changed over time, and how much remaining conservation potential is there. We believe that this type of information has improved the quality of water planning and helped secure a more reliable and economical water supply for those who use it.
