- One Tent Health seeks to increase accessibility to HIV screening and treatment in Washington, DC. We aim to minimize the stress and complexity of the path from unknown status to managed care with a community-centered, low-cost approach. We have two primary functions: HIV Screening and DC Medicaid Enrollment. One Tent Health hopes to provide HIV screening to at least 3,000 of Washington DC's most at-risk residents per year by the District's Metro stops and in its parks. We bring a lean, targeted, and cost-effective approach to HIV screening. Our formula is simple. We will screen in high-risk, underserved areas of DC with a tent, screening materials, and volunteers. We have minimal overhead, no expensive machinery, and zero work-based payments to leadership. In addition to providing HIV screening, we will help uninsured residents sign up for DC Medicaid insurance, with staff members on hand to assist with the application.
