- Dee Dee Ricks and Sean Grevy launched The Ricks Oberoi Roots Hockey Program with the goal of focusing on both on and off the ice development for minorities and underprivileged youth in the New York City hockey community. Hockey has historically been reserved for more affluent suburban communities. Youth within inner cities lack exposure to hockey due to cultural barriers, lack of ice rinks and the cost of travel teams and equipment. We have implemented a program that fields diverse and underserved talent to play competitive hockey throughout the United States with the goal of becoming a collegiate student-athlete. Working with NCAA D1, D2 & D3 and Club D1, D2 & D3 universities, we are providing diverse talent to these secondary schools actively seeking talented hockey players from disadvantaged communities.
