- Samueli Academy is a public, charter high school started by Orangewood Foundation that serves foster and community youth. Samueli Academy offers educationally under-served communities a new choice for the high school education of their teens. Samueli Academy positions students for future college and career success. It offers them a unique educational opportunity including eight educational best practices:1.STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math)2.Project-based learning3.Work-based learning4.Engineering and design pathways5.Small class sizes (approximately 20 students per class)6.Small student body (approximately 500 in grades 9-12)7.A Chromebook for each student8.Caring staff focused on the whole studentNow in its fourth year of operation, the Academy has 500 students in grades 9-12. Based on recent nationwide test scores in English and math, Samueli Academy students are outperforming their peers both in Orange County and statewide. In English, 81% of our students met or exceeded the standard, while in math (a subject in which 80% of our students arrive one or more grade level behind) 45% met or exceeded the standard.
