• The ever-expanding urban environment creates an urgency to address methods of growing and providing fresh fruits and vegetables in urban settings. Where quality food can be conventionally grown, the problem is that many of the proposed solutions are not sustainable, using too many resources especially water. Farm Urbana proposes vertical farming in urban areas to empower individuals and communities to grow their own healthy food while conserving resources and water. Farm Urbana works with systems that are chemical-free and bio-diverse. The Tower Garden is a state-of-the-art aeroponic system and a building block for Farm Urbana to work with. Its design as a lightweight, compact, and easy-to-cultivate vegetable garden allows for flexibility in terms of design, installation, and maintenance. It uses only 10% of the water needed for conventional soil farming, while growing 20-28 plants in about a five square foot area. We work with clients throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County area to utilize available urban farming space, including rooftops, patios, balconies, courtyards, or communal spaces. We offer a variety of services, including: consulting, design, installation, training, and maintenance of the Tower Garden. The continuous access to a supply of fresh, nutritious, and organic food to harvest ends up being beneficial not only to the residents, but becomes a valuable asset to property owners as well. We hope that by bringing awareness to sustainable urban farming solutions that it can be incorporated into future urban developments and that local governments will be inspired to use vertical farming as a means of cultivating community wellness.
