• Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) is an integrated, non-profit, 501(c)(3) health delivery system created in 1982 serving an expansive geographic area spanning western, central and coastal Maine. CMH serves as the parent organization of Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital, Rumford Hospital, Central Maine Medical Group, the Maine College of Health Professions and long-term care facilities, clinics, physician practices and several other subsidiaries that support the systems mission. Collectively, they provide healthcare services, health professions training and clinical research opportunities across a vast region sometimes referred to as Maines Central Tier. The primary, secondary and tertiary hospital service area extends from upper Franklin County in the north, to upper Cumberland County in the south, west to New Hampshire, and east as far as the coast of Maine. The population base for the systems primary and secondary service area is approximately 280,000. With the addition of its tertiary population, CMH serves approximately 400,000 people for certain specialties. Through the CMH system, residents of our service area have local access to many specialty and diagnostic services typically not available in rural communities. CMH is a major employer with over 3,500 employees throughout the region. The employees of the CMH system not only provide medical care, but are a vital resource to the regions economy and are engaged in countless community activities that improve the quality of life for area residents.
