• PIC Solution Inc, based in Media, PA, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PIC Solution SAS of Avignon, France. PIC Solution manufactures analytical and preparative scale supercritical fluid chromatographs. Preparative equipment ranges from the bench-top SFC-PICLab PREP 100 to the pilot scale SFC-PICLab PREP 1000. The preparative SFC units incorporate CO2 recycle which typically results in 85 to 95% CO2 recovery, thus reducing further the environmental impact of the already green SFC systems. The SFC-PICLab Analytic, an analytical SFC system with innovative automated method development capability and the SFC-PICLab Hybrid systems which combine analytical and preparative scale systems into a single instrument are also available. PIC Solution has recently introduced X-Injection which allows the sample to be dissolved in the supercritical fluid mobile phase, eliminating the possibility of precipitation in the system, which causes column blockage and excessive pressure.In addition, PIC Solution manufactures column hardware for 10, 20 and 30mm id semi preparative SFC and the FlexPacker, an axial compression unit for packing preparative scale SFC, HPLC and SMB columns. Preparative columns for use with the FlexPacker of 50, 76.5 and 100 mm id are available.The main focus of PIC Solution is in preparative SFC. This has been accepted in most of the pharmaceutical industry as the technique of choice for enantioselective separations due to its speed relative to HPLC and the reduction in the use of organic solvents. It is increasingly being used in achiral separations of molecules in drug discovery where its speed, low solvent consumption and ease of recovery of the purified compounds are equally valuable.Besides SFC, PIC Solution has a range of supercritical fluid extraction systems.
