• My name is Rohan Arora and I am a determined, focused 11 year old 'tween' and the proud son of the true superhero of my life, my mom, who is suffering from MS. My mom has been fighting the brave fight of multiple sclerosis for 7 years, and ever since I found that out, I have tried to be my moms biggest supporter and cheerleader. I am what I am all because of my mom. She has always taught me that I can do absolutely anything I set my mind to, and most people dont try because theyre afraid of failing. She always says dont be afraid of taking risks; failing is ok, giving up is not. She says if I fall, she will always be there to catch me. She gives me so much strength and encouragement. Although she insists its the other way around. Im so proud of her for doing all that she does for us, despite going through something so horrible on a daily basis. My mom and I talk about MS a lot. I ask lots of questions every day and try to learn what this thing is and how she feels. Over the years, Ive seen my mom struggle and Ive seen her go through so many good days and bad days. Im always surprised to find out how little people out there know about MS. We need to do a lot more to build awareness. Family members of MS patients usually dont understand what their loved one is going through. Theyre not involved enough or too sad and worried to do anything about it. But we can change that. There are not too many resources for children of MS patients to learn about MS, to get involved and not feel helpless. I want to help change that by creating safe place where MS patients, their family members (especially kids) can come to learn about MS, share their feelings and ideas, get their questions answered and their worries put to rest..
