Marketing Strategy Person-Level Advertising Sales Intelligence & Prospecting Website Visitor Identification

Visual Visitor FAQ: WebID, Person-Level Advertising, and AI Sales Rep

6 min read

Person-level marketing raises good questions, and our product specialists get to talk through them every day. How does identification actually work? What separates this from traditional retargeting? How does the AI decide who to email?

These come up because our approach genuinely works differently than the account-based and cookie-based tools most teams have used for the last decade. Understanding the mechanics upfront makes it much easier to judge whether it fits what you're building.

So we gathered the questions that come up most, organized by product. Jump to whatever you're curious about.

Person-Level Marketing Basics

What is person-level marketing?

Person-level marketing is the practice of targeting and engaging identified individuals rather than anonymous segments, cookies, or company records. Instead of showing ads to "people who resemble your audience," you reach specific named humans who have shown real intent. Every message ties back to a person you can identify, verify, and follow up with.

How is this different from account-based marketing?

Account-based marketing targets companies. Person-level marketing targets people inside those companies.

That distinction sounds small until you try to run a campaign. With ABM, you know Acme Corp visited your site. You still have to guess which of Acme's 300 employees was actually researching, and whether that person has any budget authority. Person-level identification tells you it was the Director of Operations, gives you her validated email, and shows you the four pages she read.

Why does anonymous traffic matter so much?

Because it's nearly all of your traffic. Industry research found only about 3.5% of B2B web visitors fill out on-site forms, and B2B buyers now complete roughly 70% of their buying journey before contacting a vendor.

You are paying to acquire an audience you mostly cannot see or contact.

Understanding WebID

What is WebID?

WebID is our person-level visitor identification engine. It resolves anonymous website sessions into real people with names, validated emails, and up to 37+ additional data points. It comes in two modules, +Person and +Employee, depending on whether you sell to individuals or businesses.

What's the difference between WebID +Person and WebID +Employee?

WebID +Person identifies the individual. You get first name, last name, validated email, phone, address, and demographic details like age range, income range, and homeowner status where available. It fits B2C and individual-level outreach.

WebID +Employee connects that visit to professional identity. You get employer, job title, employee count, estimated revenue, industry, and LinkedIn profile. It fits B2B qualification. There's also a Company Only option for account-level matching when individual identification isn't needed.

Plenty of customers run both.

How many visitors can you actually identify?

We identify 50 to 55% of U.S. website visitors. That's roughly 15 times what a typical form captures.

Identification counts as successful only when we return first name, last name, and a validated email address. The other 37 data points come back as available.

What data comes with each identification?

Identifications carry both who the person is and what they did on your site. Beyond the contact and demographic fields, every record includes behavioral context.

The behavioral data covers the parts that tell you why a visit matters:

  • Traffic source and keyword. How they found you and what they searched.
  • Pages visited. Which pages, in what order.
  • Campaign details. Which of your campaigns brought them in.

That last group is what turns a name into a sales conversation. Someone who read three pricing pages is a different call than someone who bounced off a blog post.

How hard is it to install?

One line of JavaScript in your site header, footer, or body. We recommend the footer. The same script powers +Employee, +Person, and call tracking, so there's nothing else to add later. Installations takes just a few minutes.

How do I keep unqualified traffic out of my lead feed?

Use ICP definitions. Under Configuration, you build Employee ICP and Company Only ICP filters across 42+ attributes including industry, company size, annual revenue, location, decision-maker status, and product interest.

Anything off-profile gets filtered before it reaches your team. You can also suppress current customers and open opportunities, which keeps reps from re-pitching accounts that are already in motion.

Is the identification data compliant?

Identification is consent-based, and we hold to current privacy regulations including CCPA. The platform includes a Consent Management tool, and we provide cookie consent language and privacy policy language you can adapt.

We also maintain a legal Do-Not-Track suppression list at no cost, and we host a "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" page for consumer opt-outs. Local Filter and Zip Code filters let you limit identifications to your actual service area.

Person-Level Advertising Questions

What is Person-Level Advertising?

Person-Level Advertising, or PLA, builds ad audiences out of real in-market individuals rather than lookalike segments or keyword targeting. You choose from 42,000+ B2B and B2C intent topics, apply location and behavioral filters, and we generate a hashed-email audience for delivery to Google and Meta.

The short version of the positioning: target people, not keywords.

Isn't this just retargeting?

No, and the difference is structural.

Retargeting depends on cookies that expire in 14 to 30 days, and you never learn who you're chasing. You're renting anonymous attention on a countdown.

PLA works from identified people. Once identified, you can market to that person for years at near-zero additional cost, across channels, with full knowledge of who they are.

What kind of lift should I expect?

Custom audiences built this way typically move conversion rates from the 3 to 5% range up toward 7%. Depending on your starting point, that's a 40 to 133% improvement.

Your mileage depends on offer, creative, and list quality, same as any channel. But the mechanism is straightforward. You're advertising to people who are already researching your category instead of paying for impressions against a guess.

How do I build a campaign?

Building a campaign takes just three steps inside our Campaign Studio. You choose your intent topics, build your audience with the filters you want, then push it to ad delivery on Google or Meta.

The Person-Level Advertising Dashboard tracks audience distribution, exports, clicks, and activity across all your active campaigns in one place.

What is Lead Reactivation?

Lead Reactivation a module inside PLA for waking up dead CRM records.

You upload dormant or cold contacts. We monitor them daily and alert you in real time when one of them re-enters an in-market audience or returns to your site. Instead of a rep working a stale list on a schedule, they get pinged the moment an old lead starts shopping again.

AI Sales Rep Questions

What does AI Sales Rep do?

AI Sales Rep sends personalized email sequences triggered by website behavior. When an identified visitor meets the criteria you set, the system writes and sends outreach based on the specific pages that person viewed.

No human touches it until someone replies with interest.

How is the email personalized?

Every email is genuinely unique. No duplicate subject lines, no duplicate preheader text, no duplicate body copy. Topics come from the pages that visitors actually viewed, so the message references what they were looking at.

Each email carries one link plus an unsubscribe link, and no images for optimal delivery.

Which visitors get contacted?

You decide during setup. Most customers trigger on behavior like three or more page visits or any pricing page view, which typically covers 20 to 40% of identified visitors.

You also configure the rep itself: name, gender, tone and personality, email guidelines, working hours, and a do-not-say list. Brand settings handle your company info, CTA URLs, and exception handling for known customers and returning visitors.

What happens when someone replies?

Responses route by type. Positive replies forward immediately to your sales team. Negative replies trigger automatic removal from the sequence. Out-of-office replies delay the next step instead of stacking messages on someone who's traveling. Delete-my-data requests go straight to your team.

There is no open-ended two-way conversation with the AI. Everything with intent lands with a human.

How much email does one AI Agent send?

Each Agent supports five look-a-like domains with one email address each. Every address sends fewer than 35 emails per day, roughly 1,050 per month.

We generally recommend one Agent per 2,000 monthly identifications. Agents scale without limit and price at a flat rate.

Will this hurt my domain reputation?

It shouldn't, because AI Sales Rep never sends from your primary domain. All outreach runs on separate look-a-like domains registered in your ownership, with managed warm-up, weekly address rotation, real-time validation before every send, and SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configured.

Your corporate domain stays clean for the mail that must never fail.

Can I try it before anything goes out?

Yes. The free trial generates 200 AI-written sample emails for you to read. None of them are sent. You see exactly what the system would say to your visitors before a single message leaves.

How the Three Fit Together

Do I need all three products?

No. Each works on its own, and most customers start with one.

That said, they're built as a sequence. PLA brings in-market people to your site. WebID identifies them when they arrive. AI Sales Rep engages the ones showing real interest. Identified visitors then feed back into PLA audiences, which makes the next campaign sharper.

Where does the data go?

Into whatever you already use. We have one-click integrations with Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Zoho, Salesforce, Constant Contact, SendGrid, and GoHighLevel, plus Zapier and 3,000+ connections through partners. There's a RESTful API if you need something custom.

How does pricing work?

You pay based on successful identifications. You are not charged for a match that fails to return a validated email.

Plans run month-to-month or annual, there's a free trial with no credit card required, and agencies can run the whole platform white-labeled under their own brand.

Still Have Questions?

Most of what we've covered here depends on your specific traffic, your ICP, and what you're already running. Generic answers only get you so far.

Schedule a meeting with a Visual Visitor product specialist and we'll look at your actual numbers. We'll estimate your identification rate, size the AI Agent capacity you'd need, and show you which intent topics match your buyers. It takes about 20 minutes, and you'll leave knowing whether this fits before you commit to anything.

Reading about it is one thing.
